Kung Fu Training

10 Days

 

Introduction:

Kung Fu is the Chinese term for "martial arts" and its origin can be traced back some 4000 years to 2674 BC. It has been an important component of China's cultural heritage for centuries and to this day, it still maintains the integrity of traditional martial arts.

With its 170 exercises and various fighting tactics, Kung Fu is being used for rudimentary defense that involves strikes, elbow strikes, knee strikes, joint locks and throws. This does not only requires power, but also internal and external concentration, as well as strong meditation practice to improve the health and strength of the body's inner organs.

The objectives of this program:

  • To learn about a Culture by living and working within a community
  • To teach this wonderful Martial Art to people, both young and old
  • To create a place that will save, keep and maintain the essence of Shaolin Wushu
  • To learn about Kung Fu meditation art in a community

You will be training at the Shaolin Wushu school in Thailand, and be amongst the best Kung Fu masters in Thailand. During these 10 days, you will learn and practice:

  • Basic Kung Fu
  • Qi Gong : Patuanchin and Tai Chi (Internal power training techniques)
  • Sanda
  • Self Defense
  • Shaolin Weapon Skills

At the end of the program, you will inevitably improve your physical strength, discipline and will power, mental power, behaviour skills as well as increase your stamina.

The Program:

For the next 10 days, you will train every morning from 06:30 to 08:00. Afterwards, you will be given time to freshen up and have breakfast before heading off for a fun-filled day of sightseeing, and visiting some of Thailand's most beautiful, historical and culural places.

Day 1

You will be picked up from Bangkok airport and taken to your hotel in the city centre. The rest of the day can be spent relaxing after your long flight or exploring the sights and sounds of Bangkok.

Day 2

Today we will visit the grand palace which is one of Bangkok's most famous attractions. In the afternoon we will visit The Ancient City museum just outside of Bangkok. Here you will find numerous reproductions of palace halls, temples, stupas, stone sanctuaries and traditional houses from all regions of the country. We will return to the hotel at the end of the afternoon.

Day 3

Today you will take a trip to the ancient city of Ayuthaya (which used to be the capital of Thailand), situated 70 kilometres outside of Bangkok. Here you will find many beautiful ancient temples and ruins that were built around 600 years ago. We will return to the hotel at the end of the afternoon.

Day 4

Today you have the opportunity to live as an Elephant mahout for the day. During this half day program, you will be working with an individual elephant, learn how to care, ride and understand your female elephant. You will also get to know your mahout and his family, while learning about Thai culture. We will return to the hotel at the end of the afternoon.

Day 6

After breakfast we will go to Flight of the Gibbon. This outdoor adventure is nestled in the heart of one of Thailand’s best natural settings. On one side it is bordered by the 30,000 hectare Chompoo Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to some of Thailand’s most unique plant and animal life, and on the other side by the Khao Kheo Open Safari, Thailand’s only “open safari.” Today you will experience the majesty of the forest while engaging in fun, low environmental-impact activities. You will return to the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 7

Today you will visit Damnoen Saduak floating market - a popular attraction amongst Thai people and tourists. Afterwards, we will travel to the scenic beauty of Kanchanaburi, Thailand's third largest province, with a visit to the famous 'Bridge over the River Kwai' and other WWII sights. We will return to the hotel at the end of the afternoon.

Day 8

After breakfast, we will travel to the beautiful island of Koh Si Chang, not too far from Bangkok. Once arrived, you will have all afternoon to relax on the quiet sandy beach. You can also rent a sea kayak and  snorkeling equipment to explore the clean ocean. We will leave from Koh Si Chang at 4 or 5 o’clock in the afternoon, and arrive back at the hotel before dinner.

Day 10

After breakfast you will travel to Wat San Suek to see a traditional Thai Temple and to Khao Sam Muk temple to observe a large group of long-tailed Macaques from a close distance. After lunch, we will continue to explore the natural beauty and surroundings of Ang Si la village in search of the flying fox. With an abundance of tropical trees, we only have to look up the see these amazing colonies of bat. Here you will able to study their behaviour and learn about the ecosystem from the local tour guide. At about 4 o'clock we will head back towards Bangkok.

Day 11

We will pick you up from your hotel and bring you to the airport for your return flight home.

Note: For those travelling alone or wanting free time after the Kung Fu training, we have another option available for you.
